The Battle for Michigan

  • Virtual Event via Zoom (map)

In 2016, we lost Michigan by 10,000 votes. In 2020 we must not allow that to happen. Learn more about this critical state through a special online event.

What’s at stake?
Sixteen presidential electoral college votes that are essential for defeating Trump, holding Senator Peter’s seat which is necessary if we are to take the Senate, holding two House seats (Elissa Slotkin MI CD-8 and Haley Stevens MI CD-11), and flipping the Michigan State House blue (we just need four seats!) Taking back the Michigan State House means overturning gerrymandering, fighting for racial justice, defending water quality/environment and education---and much, much more. Michigan is critical to the path to win in 2020!

With special guest speakers :

  • Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, a native of Detroit, former community organizer, chosen by Gov. Whitmer to be part of her leadership team

  • Statewide Indivisible Michigan (SWIM) Co-Founders Paula Martinos-Mantay and Michelle Pallas

  • Michigan Democratic Party Deputy Field Director Amy Laube

This is not a fundraising event – instead, it is a chance for us to learn about the battle for Michigan. On the call we will explore the current political dynamics in Michigan and how remote volunteers can play a role in making sure that we do win this must win state. Hear from Lt. Gov. Gilchrist about the politics and dynamics of Michigan, the leadership he and Gov. Whitmer have provided to guide the state through the pandemic, the economic crisis, and the rising demands for racial justice. Hear the view from the grassroots from the Indivisible leaders.
