The brutal murder of George Floyd tore open the pain and anguish of a country that has never fully addressed persistent, systemic racism in America.
It has prompted a truth telling about racism that is centuries overdue and has driven us into action.

Our country is at an inflection point. It is not enough to acknowledge the systemic racism that led to the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and countless others: we have to fight for change so that every mom and spouse has the same assumption of safety for their family that I have for mine.
This week, I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus as a cosponsor of the Justice in Policing Act, historic new legislation to address systemic racism in police departments across the country, hold officers accountable to the communities they serve, and end police brutality in America. While drastically changing the way law enforcement operates is an essential first step, real reform cannot stop there. As Rosa Parks said, "each person must live their life as a model for others." It is pivotal that every one of us meets this moment with action and a real demonstration of commitment to systemic change.
Tune in to learn more about what you can do to help our community move forward.
I hope you will join us for this opportunity to reflect on this important moment in our country's history.
Sincerely,
Katherine Clark
