Markey v Kennedy State Primary Early Voting

Early Voting

Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures, both Early Voting by Mail and Absentee Voting are encouraged for elections in 2020.  Early Voting by Mail allows the Town Clerk’s Office to mail ballots to residents to complete at home, rather than over the counter or at the polls on election day.

Any registered voter who would like to vote in person, but does not want to come to the polls, can vote early in person at the Town Offices at 16 Lincoln Road. Early Voting for the September 1st Primary will be available from August 22nd to August 28th. On Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23, the Town Offices will be open from 9 am until 1 pm to allow for Early Voting. During the week, Early Voting will be available during The Lincoln Town Clerk’s office hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. On Thursday August 27, additional Early Voting hours will be available from 8:30 am to 7 pm.

Vote by Mail

Due to legislation changes, Voting by Mail is now permissible for elections in 2020. The application is available here: Vote by Mail application. The Secretary of the Commonwealth has mailed a Vote by Mail application form to registered voters. You can call The Lincoln Town Clerk’s Office If you have already submitted a Vote by Mail application and would like to confirm we have it on file. A physical signature is required to complete the application; the form can be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office at 16 Lincoln Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773, or a scanned or photographed copy may be emailed to the Town Clerk at townclerk@lincolntown.org.

Vote by Mail applications for the September 1st Primary may be submitted until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26th. Once requested, a ballot will be mailed to you and must be received back by the close of polls on election day.

Voting by Mail allows the Town Clerk’s Office to mail ballots to residents to complete at home, rather than over the counter or at the polls on election day.

Absentee Voting

In order to be eligible to vote by absentee ballot in Massachusetts, normally a voter must be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to:

  • Absence from town during normal polling hours

  • Physical disability preventing attendance at the polling place, or

  • Religious belief.

However, due to COVID-19, Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020 permits any registered voter staying in their home or avoiding their polling place as a precautionary measure in response to COVID-19 to be eligible to request an Absentee Ballot.  The application is available here: Absentee Ballot Application.
