Postcarding for Change: It Works!
The Lincoln Grandmothers for a Brighter Future have been part of the national Grandmothers for a Brighter Future since its founding in Lexington in 2008. The Grandmothers for a Brighter Future now has writers in 46 states and the district of Columbia.
Everyone is invited to write postcards with us. Visit the Lincoln Dems Calendar to learn about the next postcarding opportunity.
The Lincoln Grandmothers for A Brighter Future AKA: Grannies and Friends will be supporting up to four Senatorial Candidates and the President on our cards. A national Steering Committee chooses the candidates, and Lincoln decides which ones it wants to support. For example, in 2018, we sent out 5000 cards to three candidates divided between Arizona, Nevada and Missouri. Our candidates in Arizona and Nevada won.
The Grandmothers’ criteria includes likelihood of winning-- where our cards will make a difference-- leadership qualities of the senators in question, and the importance of removing incumbent Republicans.
Because the primaries for Senate range from early spring to Mid-September (and currently, Massachusetts is one of the last, September 15), we will wait to see who wins the primaries before the final selection.
We are tracking about 10-12 senate races, looking at endorsements, polls, opponents and probability.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, or where they live. We work in groups and individually. We do collect money for printing and postcards from workers and supporters. Each 1000 postcards involves about $420.
