Serving as a Public Defender active in the court system for 15 years, Mara Dolan is one of two Democratic candidates running for the Massachusetts Governor’s Council, District 3, which includes Brookline, Newton, Waltham, and Arlington among its 32 cities and towns. Marilyn Devaney has represented District 3 on the Governor’s Council since 1998.
Why:
The Governor's Council vets and votes on judicial nominations, commutations and pardons, and selects members of the Parole Board. As a citizen who votes, you can have a direct say in who will appoint these legal officials, and how critical judicial matters will be determined.
